History

Our History
Founded in 1991, shortly after the liberation of Kuwait, our school was established with a clear and inspiring vision: to create a high-quality American school in Kuwait that combines academic rigor with a nurturing learning environment. Under the leadership of founder Dr. Kamil Al Rayes, the school set out to provide Kuwaiti and international students with access to a world-class education and pathways to leading universities around the globe.

Building Excellence from the Beginning
In its first year, the school welcomed 300 students and 25 dedicated teachers. Despite limited resources, including shortages of textbooks, classroom materials, and library facilities, the commitment of our educators laid a strong foundation for growth. Guided by the principles of the American curriculum, the school quickly evolved, expanding both its academic offerings and learning resources.

Accreditation and Growth
By October 1994, the school achieved full accreditation, marking a major milestone in its journey toward becoming one of the best schools in Kuwait. With the continued dedication of highly qualified teachers in Kuwait and a focus on academic excellence from Kindergarten to Grade 12, the school developed into a respected university preparatory institution. Enrollment steadily increased, and the campus relocated from Surra to its current location in Salmiya to support this growth.

Leadership and Community
Following the passing of Dr. Kamil Al Rayes in 1995, his daughter, Mrs. Samera Al Rayes, MA.Ed, assumed the role of Director. Together with her brothers—Dr. Samer, Col. Zaher, and Dr. Badri—the family continues to serve as the school’s governing Board. Their hands-on leadership ensures that the school remains an accredited school known for its open, welcoming culture and strong sense of community.
Today, the school proudly serves more than 2,200 students with the support of over 350 staff members, standing as a leading international school in Kuwait committed to preparing students for success in higher education and beyond.
